UP Manila is now ISO-certified

The University of the Philippines Manila earned an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification for its university-wide quality management system. This makes UP Manila the first campus in the UP System to obtain an international external accreditation. Read article

Mask wearing urged despite order for optional use

The decline in COVID-19 cases and deaths has led President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to sign Executive Order No. 7 on Oct. 28, 2022 allowing the voluntary use of face masks indoors and outdoors except in hospitals, medical facilities, or public transportations. Retention of healthcare workers: Challenges and interventions

Dr. Ronquillo stated that based on the data of the Commission on Higher Education, the number of enrollees in specific health professions averaged 217,753 for the past 10 years. Of these, only 22% had graduated, and board passers were only about 16% of all enrollees. This issue of high attrition in HRH stems from different factors related to uncoordinated and ineffective regulation of health workforce production. Read article
