The National Institutes of Health – Health Promotion Program in collaboration with Glasgow Caledonian University and UP Diliman’s Institute of Chemistry held a scenario planning workshop for the PASIG Healthcare Project on January 21, 2026 at Bayview Park Hotel, Manila.

Behavioral and Implementation Scientist, Dr Julze Alejandre, welcomed the participants of the program.

The workshop aimed to generate probable scenarios encompassing social, technological, environmental, economic, and political drivers of change related to pharmaceutical consumption and disposal behaviors of individuals and communities in Manila, Makati, Mandaluyong, and Pasig cities.

Research Associate Danika Bardelosa provided an overview of the activity and a recap of previous workshops.

In particular, the workshop sought to identify opportunities and challenges, policy priorities, and co-design an innovation roadmap to guide actions on resolving pharmaceutical pollution and antimicrobial resistance in Pasig River. Health and environmental professionals, and community leaders from the said LGUs participated in the workshop.

The workshop is a component of the project supported by a Research Collaboration grant, under the International Science Partnership Fund. The grant is funded by the UK Department of Science Innovation and Technology in partnership with the British Council.
