NIH Institute of Aging Contributes to Senior Healthcare at 5th MSGC Meeting

Dr. Shelly Dela Vega, director of the Institute of Aging (IA) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) provided key updates on research funding, hospital accreditation, and the development of clinical pathway guidelines to improve geriatric care during the 5th Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC) meeting, presided over by the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) in Cabusao, Camarines Sur on Mar. 11, 2025. 

Emphasis was placed on accelerating research efforts and finalizing standardized guidelines for elderly patient management.

The IA, in collaboration with the Institute of Clinical Epidemiology of the NIH, also supported initiatives for staff training in evidence-based medicine and enhancing healthcare financing mechanisms. Partnerships with BRGHGMC and NCSC will continue to expand the Geriatric Transition of Care Program, ensuring improved healthcare services for senior citizens nationwide.#
