Officials of the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila led by Chancellor Michael Tee and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Bernadette Heizel Reyes received officers of the National Commission on Senior Citizens (NCSC) headed by their Officer-in-Charge, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche on Apr. 4, 2025 at the UP Manila Board Room for the first official meeting between the two organizations.
Among the various matters discussed include the laying of the groundwork for a Memorandum of Agreement between UP Manila and NCSC, the possible inclusion of geriatric care in college courses, the university’s provision of assistance to the commission’s Senior Citizens Community Care Centers (SC3Cs), the conduct of health emergency training programs to be facilitated by the Department of Emergency Medicine of the Philippine General Hospital and the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Manila, research projects to be spearheaded by the Institute of Aging and Institute of Clinical Epidemiology of the National Institutes of Health, and the provision of care and assistance not only to senior citizen employees of UP Manila, but also those who work in other state colleges and universities (SUCs).
The visit was facilitated by the Office of International and Local Linkages headed by Director Vivien Fe Fadrilan-Camacho.#
