December 27, 2019 — With the above as theme of the Christmas celebration at UP Manila, Langgad referring to an offering, the festivities kicked off on Nov. 28 with a Thanksgiving Mass held at the PGH Chapel (A) followed by an afternoon concert that featured well-loved Christmas songs and classical numbers.
Singer-composer Jose Mari Chan (B) serenaded the members of the UPM and PGH community at the PGH Atrium with his popular Christmas compositions and love songs where he was joined by daughter, Liza, in one song number. He was followed by the musical performances of the UP Manila Chorale and the UP Manila Classical Ensemble. The evening saw the lighting of the huge UP Manila Christmas tree which was decorated by the College of Pharmacy. It shone brightly in front of the Oblation Plaza at the PGH grounds (C).
The three weeks that followed were devoted to other activities, such as the inter-unit façade and Christmas tree contest, Adopt a Ward (gift-giving to indigent patients at the PGH charity wards), Simbang Gabi, choral fest, and lantern parade held on Dec. 13 (D-L). The UP Manila Central Administration Christmas party had cosplay as theme (N-O).
The activities and events for the 2019 Christmas Celebration were organized by a committee chaired by Information, Publication, and Public Affairs Director Dr. Olympia Malanyaon for UP Manila and by Dr. Grace Herbosa for PGH.
