April 30, 2019 — The UP Manila College of Nursing celebrated its 71st founding anniversary on 8-12 April 2019 that kicked off with the inauguration and blessing of the newly renovated first floor of the Sotejo Hall.
Renovations started in 2018 which include the lobby which is now facing Pedro Gil Street, the Nursing Clinics that were modernized and the Office of the College Secretary that was moved in order to be more accessible to the students. Other upgraded facilities include the Computer Laboratory, library, and the auditorium with better seating and acoustics and with state of the art LED screen. In the afternoon, the UP College of Nursing Foundation Inc. had its annual general assembly.
Part of the foundation celebration was the awarding of professorial chairs to five faculty members for their exemplary performance in teaching and research in various fields. The recipients were Prof. Arnold B. Peralta, Theresa Ancheta Aquino Professorial Chair; Prof. Josefina A. Tuazon; Dr. Francisco Mamaril and Aurora Pizana Mamaril Professorial Chair; Prof. Floreliz V. Ngaya-an, Juan and Juana Angara Professorial Chair; Prof. Luz Barbara Dones, Nelinda Untalan Sajor Professorial Chair; and Prof. Peter James Abad, Eva Cruz Labadan Centennial Professorial Chair.
