The University of the Philippines Manila (UP Manila) warmly received delegates from the International University of Health and Welfare (IUHW) and the Fukuoka International University of Health and Welfare (FIUHW) during their courtesy visit to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and the Office of International and Local Linkages on Feb. 20, 2026.

The delegation, composed of 13 students and two faculty members from various health disciplines, is in Manila for the 10-day Study and Cultural Program, part of the College of Allied Medical Professions’ continuing internationalization efforts.

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Bernadette Heizel Reyes expressed optimism that the exchange would be a meaningful and enriching experience for the delegates.

“I hope you get to enjoy the fun and vibrant atmosphere in the city. I also hope you enjoy the spirit of what we have here in Manila and maybe also inspire you to make sure that this is not your last time coming to the Philippines,” said Vice Chancellor Reyes as she formally welcomed the delegation.

The Japanese delegates will participate in campus and hospital tours, joint student activities, and cultural visits, including trips around Manila and UP Diliman. They are also set to visit various wards at PGH and interact with students across colleges.

The IUHW/FIUHW delegation was composed of students Rikuto Nagai, Yuto Takahashi, Shunsuke Mori, Honoka Sekigawa, Miu Takada, Momoko Toyama, Yuna Fukui, Momoko Miyashita, Tamako Matsuda, Suzuno Ito, Lisa Takeda, Chihiro Yugeta, and Mao Yoshikawa, accompanied by faculty members Prof. Tomoko Kano and Prof. Tadashi Nakaya.

Among those who formally welcomed the visiting delegates were CAMP International and Local Linkages Coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Aila Nica Bandong; Physical Therapy Faculty Member, John Patrick Lentejas; and Administrative Staff Lindsay Paulino.
