The University of the Philippines (UP) Manila formalized its partnership with the Nano Society of the Philippines (NSP) through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Jan. 21, 2025, at the UP Manila President’s Office.
The partnership will advance knowledge and innovation in the field of nanotechnology, materials science, and public health. Other future collaborations include the co-organization and co-hosting of the International Nanotechnology Webinar, research and development projects, capacity building activities and projects, and engagement of students under instructional programs.
Chancellor Michael Tee expressed his excitement for the new types of technology coming into the university, and underscored that UP Manila is not only a university of researchers, but also a university of practitioners. He is optimistic that the partnership will produce products and results which will be useful to the general public.
Dr. Ryan Corpuz, founder of NSP, stated that the collaboration will include nanotechnology research, education, and entrepreneurship. He expressed his pride that this initiative is being developed by Filipino researchers, and that their ultimate goal is to make the Philippines a center of nanotechnology, not just in Southeast Asia but all over the world.
