Officials, auditors, ISO focal persons, and representatives from various UP Manila offices and colleges participated in the closing meeting of the 2026 Internal Quality Audit held via Zoom.

The University of the Philippines Manila concluded its 2026 Internal Quality Audit on May 7, 2026, with university officials emphasizing continuous improvement, stronger monitoring systems, and institutional readiness ahead of the external surveillance audit scheduled later this year.

Lead Internal Auditor Carlos Diego Rozul presented a summary of the audit findings and outlined the next steps for audited offices, colleges, and units. The audit covered top management offices, academic units, and administrative offices across the university.

“The whole point of a QMS is we are working towards improving ourselves, to be closer to the quality that we want in the context of our changing world,” Rozul said.

He highlighted that areas for improvement observed during the audit, including the need for a university-wide records disposition schedule, better organization of documents, and stronger monitoring of nonconformities and audit findings, all linked to records management and document organization.

UP Manila Chancellor Michael Tee thanked the internal auditors, the Quality Assurance Office, and all participating units for supporting the audit process.

“This internal audit allows us to reflect on our processes, prepare for external auditing, and, more importantly, address areas for improvement so we can fulfill our mandate for quality even better,” Chancellor Tee said.

UP Manila is scheduled to conduct additional QMS activities in the coming months, including ISO focal person refresher sessions, internal auditor training, and re-audits for concerned units ahead of the university’s external surveillance audit before Sept. 21, 2026.
