Ramota elected new faculty regent of the UP BOR

December 15, 2022 — UP Manila College of Arts and Sciences Department Social Sciences Assistant Professor Carl Marc Ramota of political science has been elected new faculty regent of the Board of Regents, the highest governing body of the UP System.

Succeeding Dr. Aimee Lynn Barrion-Dupo, Ramota is set to serve for two years starting January 1, 2023. He will be the sole representative of the 4000-strong faculty members of UP to the BOR.

Ramota is advocating for academic freedom, faculty welfare, and participatory governance.

Ramota is a former president of the All UP Academic Employees Union from 2017 to 2022 and chairperson of the Alliance of Concerned Teachers – State Universities and Colleges from 2014 to 2021.
