A competent medical doctor and public health practitioner who can address the health problems and concerns of individuals and populations is what the Doctor of Medicine-Master of Public Health (MD-MPH) graduate is envisioned to be after completing the program.

The MD-MPH program is the latest addition to UP Manila’s roster of graduate degree programs after it was approved by the Board of Regents at its meeting on June 29, 2023.

It aims to provide students with advanced graduate education in public health while completing a medical degree. After completing the program, the graduate has achieved competency as a six- star physician: compassionate care provider, decision maker, communicator, community leader, manager of multidisciplinary teams, scientist with nationalist fervor; and knowledge and skills in public health to effectively provide healthcare for individuals and populations.

The institution of the MD-MPH double degree program is aligned with the fulfillment of the mission and vision of UP Manila and the Colleges of Medicine and Public Health, that is to provide the nation with excellent leaders in the health sciences; who are highly competent physicians in the field of medicine and public health, guided by ethical, moral, and spiritual values, and responsive to national and global development.
