British Council PH holds 4th meeting on transnational education

The British Council Philippines held its Fourth Access and Competitiveness through Internationalisation of Higher Education Transnational Education (ACT-IHE TNE) Development Knowledge Learning Session that was facilitated by the University of the Philippines Manila with the special cooperation of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. The forum was held on Sept. 28-29, 2023 at the UPLB Training Centre for Tropical Resources and Economic Sustainability,  Los Baños, Laguna. There were also guest speakers, Arch Leah dela Rosa, PhD, Professor from the University of Santo Tomas (1st day) and Dr. Lilian A. de las Llagas, Former CHED Commissioner and UP Manila faculty (2nd day).

The program now on its 4th meeting was conducted in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education and participation of resource persons from different local universities. Its objective is to plan and provide learning opportunities that would support our local universities in the implementation of the TNE development program which will eventually become beneficial to communities in addressing the current national concerns. 

Likewise, it also aims to introduce and strengthen international collaborations and access of Filipino higher education institutions (HEIs) and students to high quality international education, as well as improve their level of competencies through the United Kingdom-Philippines partnership and network. The two-day meeting was attended by resource persons from different local universities – Marcos Mariano State University, Philippine Normal University, Batangas State University, Central Mindanao University, and UPLB and UP Manila. UP Manila has two TNE proponents from the College of Nursing and College of Allied Medical Professions.
