We are pleased to announce that research proposals for funding for calendar year 2015 are now being accepted by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Executive Director, National Institutes of Health. This office continues to promote and support local researches that can respond to the current health concerns in the Philippines. This regular research grant program will provide funding support to UP Manila researchers who will conduct relevant and innovative researches that will generate new knowledge and evidence for the improvement of health.
The priority areas for research are as follows:
1. Reduction of Child Mortality
2. Improvement of Maternal Health
3. Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB and other infectious diseases related to poverty
4. Environmental Sustainability (Climate Change, Environmental Health)
5. Addressing Non-Communicable Diseases
6. Improvement of Health Systems and Health Financing
The research proposals from these projects should aim for publication in an ISI or peer-reviewed journal. In this connection, please submit a two-page capsule proposal composed of not more than one thousand (1,000) words. It should indicate the project title, objectives, significance, methodology, expected output and proposed budget. Short-listed applicants will be required to submit a full proposal.
Proposals from Research Faculty, Junior Faculty returning from completion of graduate studies within the last 2 years and REPS/Faculty for dissertation work and from the different institutes and study groups are top priorities for this year. Proposals from researchers with outstanding obligations related to their previous NIH research projects will not be accepted.
The deadline for submission of proposals will be at 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2015.
