The Philippine Genome Center of the University of the Philippines System invites graduating students of Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Marine Science or Agriculture to join the DNA Sequencing Core Facility’s (DSCF) internship program.
The DSCF Internship Program is a 200-hour combination of lecture and hands-on training on Next Generation Technologies. The internship program aims to introduce next generation sequencing and bioinformatics techniques to all aspiring scientists and future genomics researchers who are planning to enroll this year or next year in a graduate program in UP.
This summer internship program includes practical hands-on training using actual experiments and analytical methods. To join we welcome those with:
• At least 1 year wet lab experience working with DNA using basic molecular biology techniques;
• Preferably with a GWA of 1.75 or better;
• Good scientific and technical writing and oral presentation skills; and,
• Pleasing personality and ability to be a team player
Ten (10) slots will be available, so interested parties may email their updated CV, eCopy of Certified True Copy of Grades, and Letter of Intent addressed to DSCF Program Director, Cynthia P. Saloma at pgc@up.edu.ph. Deadline for submission is on 10 May 2016.

About the Philippine Genome Center
The Philippine Genome Center is a multidisciplinary institution that combines basic and applied research for the development of health diagnostics, therapeutics, preventive products, and improved crop, aquaculture and animal varieties. The Center is a duly-created, duly-established and duly-organized genomics-focused and multi-disciplinary research unit of UP as approved by the UP Board of Regents during its 1246th Meeting held on 31 July 2009. PGC is temporarily housed at the 2/F NIMBB Building, National Science Complex, Diliman Quezon City.
