The Health Promotion Program (HPP) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) participated in a press conference as part of the Responsible Food Marketing Coalition, a multi-sectoral network advocating for stronger food marketing regulations to protect children’s health. Held on Mar. 5, 2025, at the Versailles Tent, Novotel Hotel in Cubao, Quezon City, the event marked the culmination of Philippine Heart Month and World Obesity Day.
The press conference highlighted the importance of the Healthy Food Marketing Environment Bill in promoting heart health and a healthier food environment. The bill advances front-of-pack warning labeling (FOPWL) to help consumers quickly identify food high in fats, salt, and sugar, making it easier to avoid products that may be harmful to health. It also proposes stricter regulations on child-targeted advertisements promoting unhealthy food products, reinforcing the need for responsible food marketing in the Philippines.#
