The College of Public Health (CPH) Executive Committee, led by Dean Fernando Garcia, Jr. and Dr. Vivien Fe Fadrilan-Camacho, an alumna of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Master of Public Health program, assistant to the dean for Academic Affairs, and director of the UP Manila Office of International and Local Linkages, visited the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, NUS, for benchmarking discussions on Jan. 8, 2025.
The UPCPH team was hosted by NUS Vice Dean (Global Health), Prof. Hsu Li Yang; Vice Dean (Research), Prof. Alex Cook; Vice Dean (Education), Dr. Liow Chee Hsiang; and Vice Dean (Academic Affairs), Dr. Jeannette Lee.
The meeting focused on sharing NUS’ best practices to refine CPH’s academic offerings, faculty and student relations, research portfolio, organizational operations, and administrative processes. The benchmarking aimed to ensure that CPH’s programs align with international standards, supporting internationalization goals and reinforcing CPH’s position as Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) Tropical Medicine (TropMed) Regional Center for Public Health, Hospital Administration, Environmental, and Occupational Health; to attract more international students; and to advance CPH’s mission of cultivating future public health leaders in the Philippines and the region. The visit also provided an opportunity for discourse on potential areas of collaboration on academic exchange, research, and other relevant activities moving forward. #
