University of the Philippines Manila (UPM) Professor and the Special Assistant to the Chancellor on the UPM Museum of a History of Ideas (MHI) Dr. Honey Libertine Achanzar-Labor has received her appointment as University Artist I under the UP Arts Productivity Systems (APS) for Batch 2021-2023, the only University Artist appointed from UP Manila for this year.
The said award is given to a UP faculty member who have demonstrated outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarly work for national development.
Dr. Achanzar-Labor is a Professor at the Department of Arts and Communication (DAC) of the UPM College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), and currently serves as the Special Assistant to the Chancellor for the UP Manila Museum of History of Ideas. She founded the Faura Project, with the aim of reviving, revitalizing, and sustaining the district of Ermita’s cultural and historical heritage. Among its projects were the International Flores de Mayo Festival and Conference, the Dress-up Santacruzan, and the Heritage Trail Walk. The MHI, under her direction, is currently hard at work in preparation for its reopening tentatively scheduled for November of this year.
Dr. Achanzar-Labor’s appointment as University Artist I was approved by the Board of Regents (BOR) at its 1390th Meeting in May 2024.#
