November 7, 2022 — Pivotal Peak Digital Health Solutions Inc (PPDHSI), a spin-off company of the University of the Philippines Manila and exclusive licensee of its Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS) was granted funds by the Department of Science and Technology for its deployment to more health facilities and training of more rural health units personnel.

Developed by the UP Manila National Institutes of Health’s National Telehealth Center in 2004, CHITS is the longest running, multi-awarded, and pioneering EMR for community health centers and rural health units in the Philippines. It is one of six PhilHealth-certified EMR systems that reduces patients’ waiting time and improves monitoring of patient care through efficient data encoding and records retrieval.

CHITS provides accurate, timely, and complete information about the patients at the point of care, enabling healthcare workers to facilitate a more coordinated and efficient care. The digital program helps health care workers effectively diagnose patients, reduce medical errors, and provide safer care. In addition, CHITS allows health facilities to process their claims reimbursement from PhilHealth to support their facility operations.

As early as 2012, UP Manila through its Technology Transfer and Business Development Office facilitated the commercialization of CHITS which culminated in supporting the establishment of the PPDHSI as a start-up company.

As its exclusive CHITS licensee, the PPDHSI will market CHITS in any eligible health facilities nationwide; deploy, implement, and conduct training; and provide technical support to the rural health units that availed of the digital e-medical record system.

The PPDHSI has 15 years of expertise and experience in developing, managing, and maintaining the CHITS EMR software application, and of other telehealth initiatives. The team is composed of multi-specialists in medical informatics, public health, telehealth, communications and screening solutions.
