UP Manila College of Pharmacy Engages Students Through Immersion and Career Fair Activities

The University of the Philippines Manila College of Pharmacy continues to spark student interest in pharmaceutical sciences through its recent extension and promotional activities.

From April to May 2024, the College conducted the Pharmaceutical Sciences Immersion Program, a month-long initiative designed for senior high school students from the Philippine Science High School (PSHS). Led by Dr. Joanna J. Orejola and Ms. Ethel Andrea C. Ladignon, the program offered participants hands-on experience in drug discovery, formulation, and pharmaceutical research. The initiative aimed to develop research skills and foster appreciation for the role of pharmaceutical sciences in health and society.

On March 6, 2024, the College also participated in the PSHS Main Campus Career Fair 2024 in Quezon City, which carried the theme “Empowering Students to Pursue Emerging Career Choices.” Assistant Professor Charles Mandy G. Ayran represented the College during the event, providing career talks and one-on-one counseling to high school students exploring pathways in pharmacy and health sciences. The event gathered 361 attendees, surpassing expectations and earning high evaluation scores in both quality and timeliness.

Through these initiatives, the UP Manila College of Pharmacy continues to lead in inspiring and mentoring the next generation of Filipino scientists and health professionals.
