Officials from CPH and UNP pose for a group photo after the benchmarking activity.
A delegation from the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) led by its dean of College of Medicine (CM), Dr. Pablo Quedado, visited the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila on Jan. 31, 2025, to conduct a benchmarking activity with the College of Public Health (CPH).
Among the topics discussed were curriculum design and structure, student outcomes, operational aspects, faculty development, research integration, best practices in the delivery of public health education and training, and public health services and specialized trainings.
CPH Dean Fernando Garcia Jr. led in welcoming the UNP delegation and offered the college’s help to expand the latter’s health science course offerings. “Let us share our practices, for we are eager to learn from you and also share our experiences in terms of research and public service,” he said.
UNP is planning to establish its own college of public health and has invited the UP-CPH officials to do a reciprocal visit to the former’s campus in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.
Accompanying Dr. Quedado were UNPCM Assistant Dean Dominetta Gonzalo, Chairperson for Instruction Irwina Lazo, UNPCM Librarian Dona Acelador, and Krizza Rosette Cadorna, special assistant to the UNP President. Dean Garcia Jr. was accompanied by Dr. Evalyn Roxas, Dr. Amiel Nazer Bermudez, Dr. TJ Robinson Moncatar, Dr. Sharon Yvette Villanueva, Dr. Geraldine Dayrit, Prof. Buenalyn Teresita Ramos-Mortel, and Office of International and Local Linkages (OILL) Director Vivien Fe Fadrilan-Camacho, who facilitated the said activity.#
