SHAIRA MARIE P. TAGADAN, a summa cum laude, will lead the 390 graduating batch of the 2016 College of Arts and Sciences Recognition Day on 14 June. The affair will be held at the University Theater, UP Diliman, Quezon City. This year’s Recognition Rites will have the theme, “Integrity and Social Responsibility: Commitment of Every Iskolar ng Bayan.”

With a GPA of 1.1879, Shaira Marie, a Bachelor of Science in Biology student, is a shoo-in for the summa cum laude honor. She will also deliver the valedictory address. The University confers the highest honors to graduates with overall grades of 1.2 or better. There will also be special awards to be given to outstanding graduates in various categories.

On the other hand, Ms. Lilian Joy N. Laurezo, a BA Political science alumna and a Volunteer of the Save our Schools Movement, will address the graduates as Guest Speaker. Her dedication as volunteer teacher of a Lumad community exemplifies the value of service as symbolized by the UP Oblation. Joey Andrea Cruz, a third year BS Computer Science graduate, will deliver the response of the undergraduate students during the Turnover Ceremony. Part of the program is the tribute to employee and faculty retirees for their dedicated and invaluable contributions to the CAS and the University. # # #
