In partnership with Health Action for Human Rights and the co-sponsorship with the Department of Social Medicine, College of Medicine, UP Manila, gathers members of the health sector, students, human rights and health advocates, and community members to honor the exemplary lives of Dr. Remberto “Bobby” De la Paz, Dr. Juan “Johnny” Escandor, and Dr. Ma. Lourdes “Lou” Tangco, who dedicated themselves to community service.
This year’s program, Paggunita, Pagkilala at Pagpupugay sa mga Doktor ng Bayan, will feature short talks and cultural presentations on our 3 martyred doctors, as well as other colleagues who have passed away due to illness and accidents. In the light of the arrest of Dr. Ana Marie Rilloraza, Marc Mendiola and their companions last March 11, 2026, the program will also include a segment supporting the Free Doc Ana and Marc campaign to raise awareness and call for their immediate release and the dismissal of the trumped up charges filed against them. Their detention, marked by fabricated charges, warrantless procedures, and the criminalization of humanitarian and community service, demands our urgent attention and action.
In this regard, we are inviting you to join us in this solidarity gathering on April 24, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Buenafe Hall, College of Medicine UP Manila, 547 Pedro Gil St., Ermita, Manila. We will be honored by your presence in this activity.
The gathering is also a solidarity and fund-raising activity. We have prepared tickets worth P100, P300 and P500 each for the “Lugaw for a Cause”. Any amount that you can extend will be deeply appreciated. Your assistance will go a long way in helping and providing comfort and dignity to the detained fellow health workers during this difficult time.
We hope for your favorable response. Should you need further information, please contact us at headphilippines21@gmail.com.
