Officials and staff of UP Manila and PNU discuss the details of the partnership during the meeting.

Representatives from the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila and the Philippine Normal University (PNU) held a virtual exploratory meeting on Jan. 16, 2025, to discuss potential internship opportunities for PNU students within UP Manila. This collaboration aims to enhance the science research skills of PNU students through laboratory exposures under the guidance and expertise of UP Manila faculty.

The meeting was attended by Office of International and Local Linkages Director Vivien Fe Fadrilan-Camacho, UP College of Medicine International Linkages Coordinator Christian Susean Sagpao, UP Manila College of Arts and Sciences International Linkages Coordinator Sharon Caringal, and staff from UP Surgical Innovation and Biotechnology Laboratory (SIBOL). Representing PNU was Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (FSTEM) Alfons Jayson O. Pelgone.

PNU looks forward to formalizing this academic partnership through the signing of a memorandum of understanding which will foster broader academic exchange among the students and faculty of both universities. This initiative aligns with the Commission on Higher Education’s call for UP to support and assist state universities and colleges in achieving quality education.#
