UP Manila officially launched the celebration of its 43rd Foundation Day and the 46th anniversary of the Health Sciences Center Autonomy through a Flag Raising and Kick-Off Ceremony held on October 20, 2025, at the Sports Science and Wellness Center (SSWC).
University officials and members of the Foundation Celebration Committee, chaired by Dean Ma. Teresa De Guzman of the College of Arts and Sciences, led the symbolic opening of the event.
Dean De Guzman encouraged the UP Manila community to take part in the various activities prepared for the week, including the Wellness and Sustainability Fair, Cultural Night, and the Service Recognition Ceremony, which will honor faculty and staff for their years of dedicated service.
In the program, Chancellor Michael Tee announced the upcoming air-conditioning project for the UP Manila Sports Science and Wellness Center. The initiative, he said, is part of the university’s efforts to enhance campus facilities and ensure that spaces used for events and wellness activities remain conducive and comfortable. The project is expected to be completed by February 2026. He acknowledged Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Dr. Jose Tecson III for leading the implementation and thanked the Campus Planning and Development Office for their continued efforts in improving university infrastructure.

The Chancellor also highlighted UP Manila’s partnership with TESDA, which formalized competency standards for Cadaver Preservation and Academic Simulation Services. TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco “Kiko” B. Benitez lauded the initiative as a meaningful step in strengthening the backbone of the country’s healthcare workforce.

The morning program also featured a lively cultural dance performance by the MatingCAD Dance Crew, showcasing the vibrant creativity and spirit of UP Manila students. Their presentation highlighted the role of arts and culture in promoting holistic well-being within the university community.
The ceremony was organized by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) and the Foundation Celebration Committee, with the participation of university officials, faculty, staff, and students.
