UP Manila Offers Certificate Course in Medical Imaging and Health Informatics for Radiographers and Medical Officers  

The University of the Philippines Manila is inviting radiographers and medical officers to the upcoming Asia Pacific Healthcare Informatics and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) Administrator certificate course to be held on July 26 to 30, 2025. The course will be conducted in collaboration with the FUJIFILM Asia Pacific Healthcare Learning Academy (UP-FAHLA) and will showcase cutting-edge education, research, and industry collaboration to empower healthcare professionals to drive innovations that will improve patient outcomes and advance digital imaging across the region.

‎The course, developed in partnership with Thailand’s Mahidol University, will be delivered in two levels:  

‎Level 1 – Healthcare Informatics Foundation will acquaint students with health information systems (HIS) and electronic health records (EHRs) implementation, data standards, privacy protocols, and patient safety. 

‎‎Level 2 – Digital Imaging & Medical Imaging Informatics Foundation will cover the following topics: Radiology Information System – Picture Archiving Communication System (RIS-PACS), digital Imaging, medical imaging informatics, image quality and artifacts, risk management in a digital environment, healthcare information integration, and patient dose assessment in digital imaging.  This will help students gain specialized skills in digital imaging and advanced image management. Radiographers, hospital administrators, and Information Technology (IT) personnel are encouraged to take the Level 2 course.

‎‎Level 1 is scheduled on July 26, 2025, with an enrollment fee of P5,000. Level 2 will be conducted on July 28 to 30, 2025, with an enrollment fee of P15,000. Experts from UP Manila and Mahidol University will teach the course. A maximum of 50 students will be admitted in each level.   

‎This certificate course is the first to be offered after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between UP Manila and FUJIFILM Healthcare Asia Pacific (HCAP) PTE. LTD on March 27, 2025, to establish the UP-FAHLA Center for Advanced Healthcare Informatics. The center is hosted at the Medical Informatics Unit (MIU) of the College of Medicine, University of the Philippines Manila. Aside from radiographers, medical officers, and IT personnel, the course could also be taken by students, and policy makers. 

‎‎Graduates of the course will receive a joint certificate from UP Manila and Mahidol University.
