The University of the Philippines Manila reaffirmed its commitment to community health and wellness through a series of free health services and educational activities led by its academic units.

As part of the UP College of Pharmacy’s Wellness Week 2023, students from the Clinical Pharmacy 174 class organized a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Booth held from November 28 to December 1, 2023, at the College of Pharmacy lobby. The booth offered free health screening services, including blood pressure and blood glucose level checks, as well as height, weight, and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements. In addition, Dr. Connie Pumanes facilitated a Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) Risk Screening Booth, which was also open to all.

Meanwhile, the UP College of Nursing hosted a day of education and action on HIV prevention and care on December 12, 2023, at the UP College of Nursing Auditorium. The event began with an HIV prevention lecture from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by free HIV testing and counseling from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
The HIV awareness event was organized by the UP College of Nursing Gender Committee and the UP Manila Center for Gender and Women Studies, in partnership with LoveYourself Inc.
Both initiatives reflected UP Manila’s ongoing mission to promote holistic health and empower the community through accessible, inclusive, and informative programs.
