Tenants of the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila Dormitory and Phi House Dormitory have formed the first-ever in-house council during the recently held Dormitory Kumustahan. Bella Loquias was elected as the council’s president and took her oath before Chancellor Michael Tee. The establishment of the council coincides with the drafting of its constitution and by-laws.
The Kumustahan served as a platform for discussions on dormitory concerns, including transparency in electricity and water bills, extended lobby access during exam seasons, and the issuance of dorm passes. Chancellor Tee addressed these issues and committed to installing a refrigerator, extending lobby hours during exams, and reopening the dorm pantry for UP Manila Dormitory residents.
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) also participated in the discussions, ensuring continued support for dormers.#
