Donors, faculty members, and UP Manila officials gather during the blessing and inauguration of the newly renovated Admitting Section of the Oral Diagnosis Clinic at the UP College of Dentistry.

The University of the Philippines Manila College of Dentistry (UPCD) officially inaugurated its newly renovated Operative Dentistry Clinic and the Admitting Section of the Oral Diagnosis Clinic on September 15, 2025, featuring state-of-the-art equipment including 14 new dental chairs, three dental x-ray machines, and a dental microscope.

The ceremony opened with the welcome remarks of Dean Michelle Sunico Segarra, who acknowledged the collective effort behind the renovation project.

“As you can see, tulong-tulong lang po tayo para sa College of Dentistry: ang administrasyon ng UP Manila, ang kolehiyo, at ang mga alumni,” she added, citing contributions from Class 2000 in support of the College.

Representing UPCD Class of 2000, Dr. Liza Sayoc Natividad shared her batch’s efforts in giving back to their alma mater during their Silver Jubilee Year and the 110th Founding Anniversary of the College.

“This is the place where my journey as a dentist began, and this was the institution that helped shape who I am today as an alumna,” she said. “I am excited to give back—to be an iskolar ng bayan na may ambag in our own little way, to ensure the legacy continues.”

Dr. Natividad detailed her batch’s initiatives, including the turnover of two handheld digital x-ray Crosscar scanners, three EP units, and the planned donation of seven endo motors with apex locators this October. Their most significant contribution, she emphasized, was the “Adopt-a-Room” renovation project for the Oral Diagnosis Admitting Section, unveiled during the event.

“Every contribution, big or small, made a difference—and yes, we are happy we were able to pull it off,” she remarked. “So let us continue to reconnect for greater impact.”

The ceremony concluded with the blessing of the new facilities, which are expected to enhance the training environment for students and the delivery of patient care services at the College.#
