Siemens Healthineers, UP Manila Sign Partnership for SHIFT Capacity-Building Program

Siemens Healthineers and the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila will embark on a joint capacity building training program for researchers and innovators following the signing of a MOU on Jan. 26, 2026. Siemens Healthineers and the University of the Philippines (UP) Manila signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the implementation of the Siemens Healthineers Innovation Ecosystem (SHIFT) Capacity Building Program aimed at solving healthcare challenges in the Philippines. 

The SHIFT capacity-building program will feature international speakers who will equip Filipino researchers and innovators with practical tools for technology commercialization and business development. 

“Through this program, we can try to run solutions that actually make sense for our communities. Through SHIFT, we hope to empower future innovators. We are truly excited to start this journey with you. Together we can do more as we tackle the most basic to the most critical health challenges in the Philippines,” Michael Schmermer, President and managing director of Siemens Healthineers,Inc. said during the MOU signing on Jan. 26, 2026.

The SHIFT program is in support of the initiatives earlier agreed upon by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., and Siemens Healthineers during a German-Philippine Business Forum in Berlin in 2024.
