The Health Promotion Program (HPP) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) held a “kick-off” meeting last Jan. 15, 2025 to gear up for the commencement of its newest project, “Enhancing Community HPV Immunization for Filipino Adolescents through Health Policy and System Research,” or CHIFA-HPSR.

Aligning with HPP’s vision to be at the forefront of data-driven health promotion solutions, the CHIFA-HPSR aims to address the issues surrounding persistent low human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine uptake among adolescent women in the Philippines, a key population identified under the HPP’s pillars. The project will employ health policy and systems research approaches to generate evidence that will inform both policymakers and practitioners on developing culturally relevant and responsive HPV interventions at the community and national levels.

Using participatory action research approaches, the project will also entail partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders from various sectors from national to community levels to leverage expertise and resources, enhancing the project’s impact and sustainability.

The CHIFA-HPSR Project is under a flagship grant of the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research, with the support of the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
