The UP College of Nursing met with the World Health Organization (WHO) Academy officials at the Library of the UPCN Sotejo Hall Building on September 12, 2024.
The meeting aimed to explore potential collaborations between UP Manila and WHO Academy for joint research initiatives and academic exchanges, and to enhance nursing leadership capacity in the country and beyond.
The discussion focused on strengthening nursing leadership and global health education, with both parties exploring collaborative opportunities through the WHO Academy’s initiatives and learning platform.
Attending the meeting on behalf of WHO Academy were David Atchoarena, executive director; Hsueh Ying Shirley Ho, project officer; Isobel Rivera, partnership officer; Amy Louise Cawthorne, acting coordinator; Masahiro Zakoji, technical officer of Health Promoting Schools (HPS) of Western Pacific Regional Office (WPRO) and Young Do Kim, fellow of WPRO.
On behalf of UP Manila, in attendance were Vice Chancellor Leslie Michelle M. Dalmacio of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research; Dean Sheila R. Bonito of UP College of Nursing (UPCN) and head of WHO Collaborating Centres (WHOCC) for Leadership in Nursing Development; Director Vivien Fe F. Fadrilan-Camacho of Office of International Linkages; Asst. Prof. Arnold B. Peralta, head of UPCN Teaching Program; Asst. Prof. Julienne Ivan D. Soberano, coordinator of UPCN International Linkages; Asst. Prof. Earl Francis R. Sumile, coordinator of UPCN Public Health Nursing and Assoc. Prof. Floreliz Ngaya-An, chair of UPCN Graduate Studies.
