    Qualifications:

    1. Must be sophomores enrolled in the College of Engineering, College of Agriculture, College of Medicine, Public Health, Juniors in Hygiene;
    2. Must have obtained a general weighted average of at least “2.50” for the past two semesters immediately preceding the application.

    Benefits:
    P10,000 per semester

    To qualify for scholarship, please submit to Office of Student Affairs the following documents:

    Child of Barangay Official

    1. UP Form 5 or Admission Slip (for Freshman)
    2. Birth Certificate of the Student (21 years old or below)
    3. High School Report Card (Form 138) for incoming freshmen or TCG (True copy of grades) for old students.
    4. A certification from COMELEC and certificate of incumbency from the Municipal/City Mayor, and attested by the Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) assigned in the City/municipality where the barangay is situated.
    5. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the High School Principal (for Freshman) or Guidance Counselor (old student).

    SK Official

    1. A certification from COMELEC and certificate of incumbency from the Municipal/City Mayor, and attested by the Local Government Operations Officer (LGOO) assigned in the city/municipality where the barangay is situated.
    2. UP Form 5 or Admission Slip (Freshman only)
    3. High School Report Card (Form 138) for incoming Freshmen or TCG (True Copy of Grades) for old students
    4. Good Moral Character

    Condition of Assistance

    1. Carry a full semestral load as prescribed in the course curriculum.
    2. Complete any incomplete grades during the semester or summer immediately after the school term in the SUC or LUC where enrolled.
    3. No failing grade (grade of 5.0)

    Termination of Grant

    1. The grantee falsified official records.
    2. The term of the grantee/mother or father of the grantee as barangay or SK Official expired or he/she resigned, died or removed from office for cause, provided that even with the expiration, resignation or removal or subject incumbent barangay official, he/she will be allowed to finish the full semester during which his services were terminated.

    1. This grant shall be known as the COMMONWEALTH FOODS, INC. STUDY GRANT
    2. This study grant, donated by Commonwealth Foods, Inc. is an undergraduate grant in all fields of study. (23 Nov.’88)
    3. The grant shall be open to entering freshmen who have the following qualifications:

  • Must be financially deserving. A student is financially deserving if his/her financial situation qualifies him/her for STFAP bracket C/D or lower;
  • Must belong to the top 20% of the graduating class of the high school.
  • 4. The grant consists of P12,000.00 per semester. (effective 1st semester, 2003-2004 – Jan. 17, 2003)
    5. The grant is renewable every semester until the recipient finishes his course provided he meets the following conditions:
  • Must have an average of “2.50” during the immediately preceding semester:
  • Must have no grade of “5”. Any grade of “4.00” or “inc.” must be removed before the immediately following registration period; and
  • Must not have been the subject of disciplinary action worse than a five-day class suspension.
  • 6. The Office of Student Affairs, thru its Office of Scholarships and Student Services, shall administer the study grant.

    The Comprehensive Assistance and Resource Program (CARe) aims to promote immediate financial assistance to UP Manila students available to brackets 1 to 4 STS grantees. it will come in the form of cash advances, interest-free with a maximum loanable amount of P1,000 payable within the semester.

    Guidelines for CARe Application:

    1. The financial assistance is open to STFAP grantees within brackets 1 to 4 or E2 and to all Student Assistants.
    2. The financial assistance comes in the form of cash advance from STFAP stipends that grantees received during the semester.
    3. The maximum amount that a grantee may advance is one thousand pesos (P1,000.00). The amount may be payable in lump sum or in monthly staggered payments within the semester.
    4. The previous cash advance must be paid first before a recipient can apply for another cash advance.
    5. The recipient shall sign a promissory note and authorization form indicating terms of payment and authorizing OSA to deduct the cash advance from his/her STFAP stipend or monthly salary in the cases of SAs.

    An interest of 1% per month to cover operations cost shall be added to the cash advance amount. The interest payment shall be to the account of the UPM Development Foundation, Inc.

    Qualifications:

    1. Must have been admitted in any undergraduate degree program of the University, or if alreadyenrolled, must have passed all courses enrolled in the previous semester;
    2. Must be resident of the Lone District of Aurora Province or as nominated by the Donor,; and,
    3. Must comply with Rules for Scholarship and Fellowships of the Donor.

    Benefits:

    1. Php 19,000.00 total tuition fee, laboratory and miscellaneous fees of the UP Campus where the students is enrolled in. in case the scholarship grantee is also a recipient of the University of the Philippines Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP), the University shall only release to the grantee the balance of the tuition fee that the grantee is required to pay;
    2. Php 5,000.00 semestral book allowance; and
    3. Php 3,000.00 monthly living allowance (with a maximum of Php 15,000.00 per semester)

    Conditions:

    1. The grantee shall be entitled to renewal of the scholarship grant every semester until the grantee finishes his/her degree course, provided the grantee satisfies the following conditions:
    a. Must be enrolled full-time each semester;
    b. Must have passed all subjects enrolled in the preceding semester. Any grade of “4.00” or “inc.” must be removed or completed on or before the last day of registration of the following semester;
    c. Must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;
    d. Must not shift to another course or go on leave of absence without prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services.

    2. In the event that the grantee is also a recipient of the university of the Philippines Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STS), the balance of the tuition fee that the grantee shall pay after applying the STFAP discount shall be charged against the grant. In case of grantees who belong to STS Bracket E, the entitlement to monthly stipend shall follow the UP rules.

    Guidelines for STS Emergency Loan Application:

    1. Applicant must be of good moral character and STFAP potential awardee with bracket assignment E2 who failed to meet the academic requirements for living and book subsidies.
    2. Applicant must be a bonafide student of U.P. without any outstanding STFAP loan.
    3. The co-debtor must be a relative of the borrower. UP employees cannot act as a co-debtor, except when said employee is a parent or guardian of the student
    4. An affidavit attesting to the need of the student and the willingness to pay the loan on the prescribed date must be executed by the co-debtor.
    5. The form should be accomplished properly and completely.
    6. The required documents such as student photo, ID card, and certificate of good moral character should be presented when the application is submitted.
    7. Any existing loan must be fully paid before a new loan can be granted.
    8. The approved loan shall be released in five equal monthly installments. For each release, the student must submit to the STS a certification from the College Secretary that the student has not applied for LOA or is not on LOA.
    9. The loanable amount is as follows:

    Student Assistantships are available to students who are willing to work for a maximum of 120 hours a month. A student assistant gets P30.00 per hour compensation.

    1. The student assistantship program is open to all bonafide students of the University enrolled in undergraduate programs.

    2. To ensure that participation in the program does not adversely affect the academic performance of student assistants, the following limitations are set:

  • First Year students are not allowed to participate in their first semester of enrollment.
  • Bonafide students who obtained passing grades in at least 50 percent of the total number of academic units registered in the preceding semester are qualified to apply for student assistantship.
  • Work hours of student assistants shall be limited as follows:
  • Academic load per semester Work hours/month
    Less than or equal to 18 units 120
    Less than or equal to 21 units but greater than 18 units 75
    Greater than 21 units 50
    3. Appointments of student assistants is on a semestral basis (first semester, second semester and summer)

    4. In hiring student assistants, the financial need of the applicants shall be given priority. However, in research and other academic projects, the office/unit may require additional qualifications.

    5. Student assistants should not be used in personal/private projects of faculty and staff.

    6. The Daily Time Records (DTRs) of student assistants shall be attested to by both the department/division chairs and the head of office/unit.

    7. The Office of Student Affairs shall be in-charge of the program. Its responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Processing of appointment papers
  • Preparation of payroll (based on daily time records)
  • Monitoring and control of deployment/assignment of students assistants
  • Coordination with colleges/units on the services of student assistants

  • 8. Resignation of a student assistant may be done through the submission of a letter addressed to the head of the office/unit where the student is assigned; copy furnished the Office of Student Affairs.

    A first year or sophomore student can borrow a maximum limit of 70% of the total tuition and other fees miscellaneous and laboratory) per semester; a junior or senior, 80%; a graduate student, 85%. The student must have ready cash payment for the balance of the total tuition fees. Loans should be paid fully (including 6% interest p.a.) at one time or in installments before the final examinations. If paid within 4 months from the date approved, no interest should be collected.

    Guidelines for SLB Application:

    1. Any UP Manila bonafide student of good academic and moral standing with no outstanding account with the Student Loan Board may apply for the loan.
    2. SLB Form #1 should be properly and completely accomplished. All required documents (student 1x1 photo and Invoice) should be presented when application is submitted.
    3. The guarantor (parents/guardians, or permanent faculty/employee of the UP Manila).
    4. The witness of the co-debtor should be the College Secretary or the Dean of the Unit if the co-debtor is a faculty/employee.
    5. When his/her application is approved, s/he must present the approved form (duly signed by the Director of Student Affairs or his/her authorized representative) to the cashier’s office when s/he pays his/her tuition.
    6. The loan must be paid on or before due date. Non-payment of the loan will mean barring the student from registering for the next semester/term and/or will not be issued clearance.

    The Students’ Emergency Loan Fund (SELF) is a UPM loan program managed by the OSA. It is open to all bonafide UPM students, especially those who are STFAP grantees. It is intended to assist students pay for their tuition and other fees, as well as, their book needs.
    The SELF is a CASH LOAN. The maximum amount of the loan is P10,000 per student per
    semester, with a 6% interest per annum deducted immediately from the total amount loaned,
    and payable in full or several installments before the end of the semester. However, the
    maximum amount for Book Loans is P5,000 per student per semester.

    Guidelines for SELF Application:

    1. A bonafide student of UPM, preferably STFAP grantees belonging to Brackets C (P600 per academic unit) and D (P300 per academic unit)
    2. Must NOT BE a grantee of the UPM Development Foundation Enrollment Program or a grantee of more than two (2) existing loan programs in the UPM, whether at the university or college level, and regardless of funding source (private or public).
    3. With no unpaid loan in UPM.

    Application Procedures:

    1. Secure and submit application form at the OSA with the following:

  • Notarized promissory note signed by a parent or guardian and endorsed by any one of the following: Faculty Adviser/ Program Adviser/Department Chairperson, occupying a regular item at UPM
  • Certification from the College of the applicant’s loan status, i.e. whether the applicant is a recipient or not of any loan program in the College
  • Registration Form (Form 5) iv. 1 x 1 photo
  • (For Book Loans only) Submission of registered FORM 5.

  • 2. Present the approved application form to the Accounting Office for verification.
  • (FOR TUITION LOANS) Return approved application form to OSA for the release of the SELF FORM NO. 1-A and submit this form to the Cash Division for recording and corresponding action on the student’s FORM 5.
  • (FOR BOOK LOANS) Return approved application form to OSA for the completion of accounting requirements. The student will be notified once the check for the approved loan is ready for release at the Cash Division.
  • (FOR COMBINATION OF TUITION AND BOOK LOANS) Return approved application form to OSA for the release of the SELF FORM NO. 1-A for the Tuition Loan and submit this form to the Cash Division for recording and corresponding action on the student’s FORM 5.

  • For the Book Loan, the student will be notified once the check is ready for release at the Cash Division.

    3. The Cash Division will provide OSA with a list of all vouchers paid to students under the SELF, including total amount granted and date of release of loan to determine the corresponding interest to be collected from the student.

    4. All payments for the SELF will be coursed through the responsible OSA staff who will prepare the statement of account of each SELF grantee.

    5. The loan should be fully paid before the end of the semester the loan was given. Non-payment of the loan will bar the student from registering the succeeding semester with the non-issuance of the registration forms.

    The scholarship, which is being donated by the U.P. Alumni Association of Singapore, shall take effect in the first semester , 2006-2007.

    A. QUALIFICATIONS:

    An applicant for the scholarship shall have the following qualifications:
    1. must be a bonafide student of the University of the Philippines System enrolled in any four-year course;
    2. must be a freshman student who has qualified for admission; if already enrolled as a freshman, must have obtained an average grade of “2.5” or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of “5.00” or unremoved “4.0” or “inc.” in the semester immediately preceding the application;
    3. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of of the grant;
    4. must be financially needy (parents' annual gross income must not exceed P200,000.00)
    5. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;

    B. BENEFITS:

    School fees as asse ssed but not to exceed P6,000 per semester Book allowance 1,500 per semester
    Monthly stipend at P3,000 x 5 months 15,000 per semester
    Transportation allowance P500 per month 2,500 per semester

    TOTAL P25,000.00 per semester
    (P50,000 per year)

    C. TERMS:

    The scholarship is renewable every semester until the recipient finishes his/her degree course, provided he/she satisfies the following conditions:
    1. must have obtained an average grade of “3.0” or better for a load of at least 15 units with no grade of “5.0”. Any grade of “4.0” or “incomplete” must be removed or completed on or before the last day of registration of the following semester;
    2. if the scholar fails to meet the average requirement or obtains a failing grade in the semester he/she is currently enrolled, the scholarship shall be “ipso” “facto” terminated. However, an awardee may be reinstated in the semester immediately following the disqualification if he/she meets the requirements stated in C (1,3 & 4) during the period he/she was disqualified; Reinstatement will be allowed only once.
    3. Must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;
    4. must not shift to another course or go on leave of absence without prior approval form the Office of Scholarships and Student Services. In the event the scholar goes on an approved leave of absence after he/she has collected her/his benefits, that period shall be counted in his/her scholarship term. If the scholar shifts to another course, he/she must finish the course within the prescribed normal length of time based on the original course.

    D. OTHER CONDITIONS:

    1. Scholarship does not cover summer classes.
    2. In the event the donor decides to discontinue the scholarship, the existing scholar shall be supported until graduation or unless disqualified from the grant for failure to meet the terms for the renewal of the grant.

    E. FINANCING:

    The donor shall remit to the University the amount of P25,000.00 in June and P25,000 on October of each academic year for the duration of the grant.

    F. ADMINISTRATION:

    The Office of Scholarships and Student Services shall administer the scholarship grant.

    1. Privilege to enroll in any undergraduate degree program and any college within the UP System, provided the student meets all other entrance requirements to his/her chosen program.

    2. Free tuition, miscellaneous fees and laboratory fees. (Oblation scholars must pay student fund fees.)

    3. Semestral book allowance of Two Thousand Two Hundred Fifty Pesos (P2,250).

    4. Transportation allowance per semester (patterned after STFAP) for Oblation scholars whose permanent residences are very far from the UP campus they are enrolled in.

    5. A special incentive allowance of Three Thousand Pesos (P3,000) per month. This allowance is over and above the monthly stipend if he/she is an STFAP beneficiary. For example, if an Oblation Scholar applied and qualified for STFAP Bracket E2, he shall receive P2,400 monthly stipend in addition to the P3,000 monthly incentive allowance as an Oblation Scholar. On the other hand, if he qualified for STFAP under Brackets A to E1, he will only receive the monthly incentive allowance of an Oblation Scholar which is P3,000.

    6. DURATION of the award: The normal length of time for the degree course program chosen (computed from time of first enrollment in UP), except in the case of students in the INTARMED Program who shall enjoy the benefits during the first four years of the Program only. At the end of four years, these students shall have completed the equivalent of a bachelor's degree. An Oblation scholar who intends to enroll in the LLB program may enjoy the scholarship only for the pre-law baccallaureate degree.

    7. ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: To maintain the scholarship, the student:

    7.1 must carry the normal load prescribed for his/her degree program every semester;

    7.2 must pass all academic subjects enrolled in, without any grade of “Dropped” or “Incomplete”, and;

    7.3 earn a weighted average of at least “2.0” in the previous semester.

    In the case of an INTARMED student, however, computation of grades for year levels III and IV will be based on grades for the whole year. The retention grade of “2.0” remains.

    8. An oblation scholar may enjoy the special privileges during the summer if the student's degree

    program normally requires enrollment during the summer.

    The scholarship, which is being donated by Cong. REX GATCHALIAN, Representative of the 1st District of Valenzuela City, Metro Manila, shall take effect on the first semester of Academic Year 2008-2009.

    A. QUALIFICATIONS:
    An applicant for the scholarship shall have the following qualifications:
    1. must have passed the UPCAT, or if already enrolled, must have pass all courses taken in the previous semester; 2. must be residents of the 1st district of Valenzuela City;

    B. BENEFITS: Semestral benefits of P25,000.00 per semester (P50,000.00 per year)

    C. TERMS:
    1. The scholarship is renewable every semester until the recipient finishes his/her degree ourse provided he/she satisifies the following conditions:
    a. must have passed all subjects enrolled in the preceding semester. Any grade of “4.00” or “inc.” must be removed or completed on or before the last day of registration of the following semester; b. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action; c. must not shift to another course or go on leave of absence without prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services.
    2. If a scholar fails to meet the requirement or obtains a failing grade in the semester he/she is currently enrolled, the scholarship shall be “ipso facto” terminated. However an awardee may be reinstated in the semester immediately following the disqualification if he/she meets the requirement stated in C(1 a-c) during the period he/she was disqualified. Reinstatement shall be allowed only once.

    D. FINANCING: The initial amount of P1,000,000.00 covered by SARO No. ROCS-08-04484 with TOR No. 2008-131 dated June 25, 2008 was remitted to the University for the purpose of implementing the scholarship program. The succeeding yearly amount of P1,000,000.,, shall be remitted to the University through the Priority Development Assistance Fund allocation of the Honorable Rex Gatchalian in June for each academic year for the duration of the scholarship grant.

    E. OTHER CONDITIONS: In the event the donor decides to discontinue the scholarship, it is understood that the donor will continue to support existing scholar/s until graduation or unless disqualified from the grant for failure to meet the terms for renewal.

    F. ADMINISTRATION: The Office of Scholarships and Student Services shall administer the scholarship grant.

    The scholarship, which is being donated by Senator Francis “Kiko” N. Pangilinan shall take effect in the 1st Semester, AY 2011-2012.

    A. QUALIFICATIONS:

    An applicant for the scholarship shall have the following qualifications:
    1. must be a Filipino citizen and a bonafide student of the University of the Philippines system enrolled in Science or Engineering course;
    2. students enrolled in a 4-year course, must be 3rd year upon application; students enrolled in a 5-year course; must be 4th year upon application;
    3. must have maintained a semestral grade point average grade of “2.50” or better and must have carried a load of at least 15 units with no grade of “5.00” or unremoved “4.00” or “inc” in the semester immediately preceding the application;
    4. must be enrolled in at least 15 units at the time of the award of the grant;
    5. must be in need of financial support (parents’ annual gross income must not exceed P500,000)
    6. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;
    7. must not be a recipient of any other scholarship grant;

    B. BENEFITS:
    Semestral benefits of P25,000.00 per semester (P50,000.00 per year).

    C. ALLOCATION OF SCHOLARSHIP SLOTS:

    1. The scholarship is renewable every semester until the recipient finishes his/her degree course, provided he/she satisfies the following conditions:
    a. must have obtained an average grade of “2.50” or better for a load of at least 15 units with no grade of “5.00”. Any grade of “4.00” or “incomplete” must be removed or completed on or before the last day of registration of the following semester;
    b. must not have been the subject of any disciplinary action;
    c. must not shift to another course or go on leave of absence without prior approval from the Office of Scholarships and Student Services.
    2. If the recipient fails to meet the average requirement or obtains a failing grade in the semester he/she is currently enrolled, the scholarship shall be “ipso facto” terminated. However, an awardee may be reinstated in the semester immediately following the disqualification if he/she meets the requirements stated in C (1 a-c) during the period he/she was disqualified. Reinstatement will be allowed only once.
    3. In the event that the grantee is also a recipient of the Socialized Tuition and Financial Assistance Program (STFAP). The balance of the tuition fee that the grantee shall pay after applying the STFAP discount shall be charged against the grant. The remaining balance of the grant shall be release to the grantee as school allowance. In case of grantees who belong to STFAP Bracket E2, the entitlement to monthly stipend shall follow UP rules.

    E. FINANCING:

    The amount of FIVE MILLION PESOS (P5,000,000.00) covered by SARO No. G-10-07633 dated November 15, 2010 was remitted to the University for the Sen.Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan Scholarship Grant.

    F. OTHER CONDITIONS:

    In the event the donor decides to discontinue the scholarship, it is understood that the donor will continue to support existing scholar/s until graduation or unless disqualified from the grant for failure to meet the terms for renewal.

    G. ADMINISTRATION:

    The Office of Scholarships and Student Services shall administer the scholarship grant.

    In Kiko Pangilinan rules

    The UPM Foundation Student Enrollment Program is a privately-funded student loan program supervised by the UPM Development Foundation in coordination with the OSA. It is open to all students with at least 2nd year standing and is intended to assist students with the payment of their tuition and other fees.

    Guidelines for UPM Student Enrollment Program:

    1. The applicant must be a regular student of U. P. Manila, with at least second-year standing with a GWA of 3.00 and no INC. mark in the semester prior to loan application;
    2. S/he must have a total annual family income of not more than Php360,000 in the preceding year;
    3. S/he must be in need for funds to be able to continue studies or at least maintain past scholastic performance;
    4. The applicant must not be a grantee of other student loan programs in UPM except the Student Loan Board, and she/he must be of good moral behavior
    5. The total loanable amount should not be more than Php25,000.00 per semester to be paid directly to U.P. Manila. The amount must be used only to pay the costs of, first, tuition fees, and, next, other matriculation fees as officially assessed by and due ultimately to U.P. Manila.
    6. The assistance shall be through a loan that is non-interest bearing but subject to an upfront 5% p.a. deduction.
    7. The loan should be fully paid before the end of the semester the loan was given. Non-payment of the loan will bar the student from registering the succeeding semester with the non-issuance of the registration forms.

    Application Procedures:

    1. Get and fill out an application form from the UPM Office of Student Affairs (OSA).
    2. Seek endorsement from the following:
    a. Applicant’s parents and/or guardians;
    b. Applicant’s fellow student in the same course; and
    c. Any one of the following with a regular item in the Department where the degree program/course of the applicant is offered ---- Faculty Adviser/ Program Adviser/ Department Chairperson.
    3. Submit the completed application form to OSA, together with a photocopy of the applicant’s Form 5.
    4. Claim individual check (payable to UPM) from UPMDFI.
    5. Proceed to Cashier’s Office for payment and issuance of validated Form 5.
    6. Give OSA a photocopy of your validated Form 5.
