The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the research arm of the University of the Philippines Manila, the Health Sciences Center of the UP System. It was established as a national health research center by the Philippine Government by virtue of Republic Act 8503, otherwise known as the “Health Research and Development Act of 1998” on 13 February 1998.
