Manalang is PRC’s Outstanding Professional in Physical Therapy


Gayline F. Manalang Jr. of the College of Public Health (CPH), UP Manila will receive the 2017 Most Outstanding Professional of the Year Award in the field of Physical Therapy from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

The PRC is the government agency mandated to administer licensure examinations to aspiring Filipino professionals. It regulates professional practice in partnership with Professional Regulatory Boards (PRBs) that govern 43 professions in the fields of health, business, education, social sciences, engineering and technology. Together with the PRBs and esteemed societies of the professions, PRC recognizes the most accomplished Filipino professionals and professional organizations annually.

Professor Manalang is awarded for her distinguished contribution in the field of physical therapy, through her exemplar service as a leader-advocate of the physical therapy profession, occupational health educator, and chronobiology researcher in the Philippines.

A UP Manila alumna (BSPT 2001 & MOH 2006), Professor Manalang started her career as a research assistant at the College of Allied Medical Professions. She is presently Assistant Professor at CPH’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, Program Leader of the chronobiology research group PhilSHIFT, and lead proponent of the Philippine Chronotype and Social Jetlag Survey.

A Lifetime Member and former President of the Philippine Physical Therapy Association, Inc., her professional milestones, most recently through collaborative endeavors to study human chronotypes across the country, are testaments to her unique and outstanding career as a Filipino physical therapist.

The award will be conferred at the PRC Awards Night this June 23rd at the Manila Hotel.
