"ASSERTING OUR RIGHTS TO SERVE”: An Education Series commemorating the death anniversaries of Bobby Dela Paz and Johnny Escandor
UPDATE: "Asserting the Right To Serve: An Invitation" ( May 19, 2017, Friday, at 1:30 - 5:00 o’clock pm, PGH-UPMASA Science Hall)
The growing spate of killings and human rights violations in our country today is alarming and frontline health personnel, including doctors, are not spared. The recent deaths of Dr. Dreyfuss Perlas and Dr. Sajid “Jaja” Sinolinding are reminiscent of the murders of Drs. Remberto “Bobby” dela Paz and Juan “Johnny” Escandor, and reflects the inability of the present administration to protect those who serve the underserved.
While we condemn such acts and seek justice, we also remain vigilant and continue to defend, uphold, and protect the rights of peoples.
With this, we would like to invite you and your members to a forum on Health and Human Rights entitled “ASSERTING OUR RIGHT TO SERVE”, in commemoration of the death anniversaries of Bobby (35 years) and Johnny (34 years). The forum will cover topics on:
• The human rights situation and its effect on health personnel
• Legal and meta-legal protection for health and human rights workers
• Tribute to the Martyrs of the Health Sector
• Call to action on our pursuit of justice for all victims of human rights violations among our members in the health sector
The forum will be held on May 19, 2017, Friday, at 1:30 - 5:00 o’clock in the afternoon at the Science Hall, 3rd Floor Central Block, Philippine General Hospital, Taft Avenue, Manila.
Through this forum, we hope to achieve a better understanding of the human rights situation under the Duterte government, as well as its implications on the health and lives of Filipinos.
Thank you and we look forward for your participation.
