CPH as SEAMEO CENTRE TROPMED/ Philippines is one of the Regional Centres of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization whose specific function is for Public Health, Hospital Administration and Environmental and Occupational Health. It is hosted by the College of Public Health which is under the administration of the University of the Philippines Manila, an autonomous campus under the University of the Philippines System.
Dr. Nina G. Gloriani the 13th Dean of the College of Public Health (CPH), assumed the Deanship of the College on July 1, 2007. Dean Gloriani, who succeeded Dr. Caridad A. Ancheta, shall serve for a three-year term until June 30, 2010. As the new Dean, she also functions as the Director of SEAMEO TROPMED/ Philippines.
VISION
The College of Public Health, SEAMEO-TROPMED Philippines is the leading regional institution in public health strategically responsive to national and global developments.
MISSION
The CPH exists to develop 1) human resources for health through quality education and training, 2) generate and utilize relevant research products and creative work, and 3) provide extension services to public and private institutions and communities for the improvement of public health.
CPH ACTION PROGRAMS
The CPH Mission/ Vision/ Goals (MVG) are in tandem with UP President’s Plan (2005-2011) and the Chancellor’s MVG for UP Manila.
To the extent that we could, and within the framework that our institution works, our responses to local and national health needs will be in support of the Philippines’ Department of Health Fourmula One, and the Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology’s Science and Technology (S & T) agenda, including the Unified National Health Research Agenda. On a broader scale, our responses will help realize the Milennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015. Our degree programs, training courses, researches and extension works are now in support of the challenges of a “Global Public Health” with many of our faculty researches and extension work covering one or more of these MDGs.
Accomplishment Report KRA 1: Enhanced Programme Excellence and Relevance The College/ Centre offers masters and doctoral programs for leadership in practice and training in public health and its specialties. At the same time it continues to play its lead role in research on public health problems of the Philippines and makes available the expertise of the faculty to other organizations through consultative services. These activities are carried out through the seven academic departments and one administrative department.

TROPMED/ Philippines continues to offer seven (7) graduates degree programs and one undergraduate degree program. These are:
In addition to these academic programs, the College/Centre also provides for the educational needs in public health of students of the Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy and Nursing of the University of the Philippines Manila.
For 1st semester, AY 2008-2009, there were fifteen (15) doctoral, one hundred nine (109) masteral and ninety six (96) undergraduate student admissions. The Centre graduated a total of twenty three (23) graduate and fifty (50) undergraduate students.

KRA 2: Enhanced Quality and Efficiency of Management Four (4) faculty members are pursuing graduate studies, three (3) leading to doctoral degrees while one (1) for masters degree.

KRA 3: Ensured Financial Viability The College of Public Health received a total allocation of PhP4,484,878.00 from the University of the Philippines Manila. Of this amount, PhP4,184,878.00 was allocated for the maintenance and operating expenses specifically for the payment of utilities and for contractual services and PhP300,000.00 for the acquisition of equipment. All other expenses for teaching were sourced from the College’s income from graduate tuition fees (GTF) with a revenue of PhP1,143,266.00, from educational development fund (EDF) with a collection of PhP44,237.00, and from laboratory fees (LF) in the amount of PhP216,600.00. Total collection from students’ fees amounted to PhP1,404,103.00. For the period in review, the College of Public Health, University of the Philippines Manila generated a total amount of PhP5,888,981.00. Acquisitions:

KRA 4: Increased Access to Market The College/ Centre continued to market its programmes, projects and facilities. As in past years, its current linkages with international and national agencies have helped a lot in promoting and enhancing the College/Centre's profile and visibility. The availability and expertise of our faculty in various areas of public health and the college/ centre’s commitment to share such expertise and resources for health development are reflected in variety and number of courses, seminars and workshops they were invited to and the number of consultancies, technical assistance and other form of services. The updated CPH Catalogue for 2007-2010 and the CPH website in the internet were also effective in disseminating additional and relevant information about the College/ Centre.
Other strategies to publicize our programmes include continuous distribution of flyers/brochures on academic programs and training courses; conducting marketing workshop, offering of academic program off campus and after office hours, including Saturdays, and through faculty publications.
KRA 5: Increased Linkages TROPMED Philippines continues to maintain its network and linkages at the national, regional and international levels. Collaborations were on academic and training programs, research and extension services.
