Organizers: The CPH’s Library and Seminars Committee (headed by
Prof. Teresita S. de Guzman) and Sibol (an undergraduate student organization)
chaired by Ms. Mita Lourdes Angela organized the Memorial Lecture, with the
College of Nursing as co-host.

Prof. Minda Luz N. Quesada, a nurse, educator, activist and nationalist was a
faculty member of the College of Public Health. She was the President of the
UP Manila University Assembly, Vice President of the Philippine Nurses Association, and President of the Alliance of Health Workers, a non-government organization advocating for the rights of health workers that pushed for the Magna Carta of Public Health Workers. She was the lone health sector representative in the Constitutional Commission that framed the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Through her efforts as a Commissioner of the Con Com, health is now recognized as a right of every Filipino citizen. She had cancer of the colon and passed away in 1995.
