UP Sandigan was first formed as a political party supporting candidates for the USC and UPPhA  elections. For quite some time, it was a “training ground” for aspiring student leaders, until they felt the need to expand their horizons. The “shift” from what has been a springboard for political aspirants to a socio-political organization took form in January 1989.
