RS 201: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF REHABILITATION SCIENCE
Study of theoretical perspectives, models of theoretical bases of the rehabilitation sciences and their historical development. This will include the historical development of theories, frames of reference, models of practice, and rehabilitation process including clinical problem solving, bioethical principles and the role of related fields in rehabilitation sciences.

Credit: 3 units (lecture)

RS 203: EDUCATION FOR REHABILITATION SCIENCE (CLASSROOM TEACHING)
A study of learning theories and principles, instructional activities and methods of student evaluation relevant to the health professions in the classroom setting. Opportunity to observe, prepare for and practice classroom teaching.

Credit: 2 units (1 unit lecture, 1 unit lab.)

RS 204: EDUCATION FOR REHABILITATION SCIENCE (CLINICAL TEACHING)
A study of various instructional activities and methods of student evaluation appropriate to the clinical setting of therapists. Opportunity to observe, prepare for and practice clinical teaching.

RS 205: ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION IN REHABILITATION SCIENCE
Concepts, principles, processes and current issues of organization development and management as applied in rehabilitation science services/institutions.

Credit: 2 units

RS 207: CLINICAL REASONING IN REHABILITATION SCIENCE
A study of clinical reasoning as a dynamic process of inquiry, decision making, and reflection on clinical practice. Emphasis on procedural interactive, 
conditional and narrative forms of reasoning. Opportunity to practice clinical reasoning included.

Credit: 2 units (1 unit lecture, 1 unit lab.)

RS 208: ETHICS IN REHABILITATION SCIENCE
Theories and principles involved in ethical reasoning, their legal and moral implications to the practice of the rehabilitation science profession. Critical analysis of ethical dilemmas commonly encountered in practice included.

RS 209: COUNSELING IN REHABILITATION SCIENCE
Theories and application of appropriate counseling models and different elements involved in the counseling process relevant to issues concerning the 
disabled population.

Credit: 2 units

RS 299: RESEARCH METHODS IN REHABILITATION SCIENCE
Introduction to design of research related to the practice of the allied health profession, critical review of literature, statistical analysis of data, introduction 
to computer utilization for analysis of experimental and clinical data.

Credit: 3 units (1.5 units lecture, 1.5 unit lab)

Study of normal language development with emphasis on theories, processes, and milestones in the development of language content/ form/ use for 0 - 10 
years.

SP 210: VOICE DIORDERS II
The anatomical and physiological bases of voice production. Diagnosis and therapy for phonatory and resonatory disorders in children and adults with 
focus on clinical experience and case analysis.

SP 226: APHASIA
Diagnosis and treatment of the communication problems of aphasia with emphasis on clinical management and the neurologic correlates of aphasia.

SP 232: AURAL REHABILITATION IN CHILDREN
Theoretical foundations, historical background and different approaches to aural rehabilitation in children. Includes special management strategies in the areas of speech and language development for hearing impaired children. Special emphasis on developmental and remedial instructions for preschool and school-aged child.

SP 240: PHONOLOGICAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN
Application of theory of phonological development in assessment and intervention. Focus on the study of the linguistic system, distinctive features, 
and close phonetic transcriptions.

SP 244 DYSPHAGIA
Comparative physiology of normal and non-normal swallow in the pediatric and adult population. Multidisciplinary team approach to diagnosis with emphasis on the speech pathology management of dysphagia.

Credit: 2 units (0.5 unit lecture, 1.5 units lab)

SP 246 NEUROMOTOR SPEECH DISORDERS
Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of neuromotor speech disorders in children and adults, with emphasis on clinical management of motor speech 
disorders specifically the major nervous system disorders associated with dysarthria, dyspraxia, apraxia, and myofacial conditions.

SP 250 LANGUAGE DISORDERS IN SCHOOLAGE CHILDREN
Nature of language disorders in elementary and secondary schoolage children with emphasis on complex sentence development, assessment, and management of breakdown in narrative, interaction between oral language, reading, and academic skills.

Credit: 2 units (1 unit lecture, 1 unit lab)
